Case: Policy coherence in general

10-03-2010 Who will become the Fair Politician of the Year?

Who will be the Fair Politician of the Year? Since the beginning of the parliamentary year a scoreboard has been kept of the contributions made by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), in relation to one of our cases or PCD in general. Thus far, the competition is incredibly exciting. The Greens/EFA political group has made the most effort up to now, with the S&D group not so far behind them. In June, at the end of the first parliamentary year of this term, the scoreboard will be checked again and the Fair Politician of the Year will be awarded during a ceremony at the European Parliament.

By clicking on the monitor scoreboard, you can see, by political group, the news items about MEPs who earned a Fair Politics point. There are still three months to go, so enough time to raise questions in relation to PCD, or include amendments in relevant reports within all of the relevant committees in the parliament (AGRI, DEVE, INTA, PECH, ENVI, ITRE, LIBE etc). So far, MEP Eva Joly from the Greens/EFA political group, is in the lead in the running to become the next EU Fair Politician of the Year.

Parliamentary questions and amendments that contribute to making politics more fair are granted one point, and rapporteurs of reports and opinions that contribute to policy coherence for development are granted two points.
